Christina Sowinski

Undergraduate Student, Planetary Science and Geology & Geophysics

What are you are studying/what you are interested in studying and/or researching while at Purdue? If you have done internships or other applicable experiences, feel free to include them here.

I study planetary science and geology & geophysics! I am currently working on a project with Dr. Ali Bramson studying erosion and surface textures on Mars. I use radar and high-resolution imaging to map out different surface variations that we observe so we can ultimately find the roughness parameters of different erosional features.

What made you want to join the Leading Women Toward Space Careers program?

I wanted to join this program because I love space and liked the idea of getting to connect with other women who share the same passions! I hope to be able to learn from mentors and meet new friends so that we can all progress in our fields and grow as people together.

What area would you like to work in after graduation? (What career path, interests, opportunities, etc., would you like to accomplish? What field are you interested in?)

I hope to go to graduate school and get a Ph.D. I would like to stick to something in the general field of planetary geology or planetary geophysics, but do not know exactly what type of project I would like to do.
